Avast has just finalized the acquisition of the majority of AVG shares. The deal was announced this summer for $1.3B. Now the two companies therefore make up more than and operate accordingly. This association will notably strengthen the group's effectiveness in identifying threats, through sharing resources. The size of the new entity should also allow it to put more focus on new threats such as ransomware and attacks connected objects.
Avast can rely on AVG reseller network and thus develop its SME business. The AVG Labs should also enable Avast to continue its international expansion, knowing that the consolidated company now represents 400 million users worldwide.
