Learning from various sources close to the matter, Facebook is trying to improve users experience by launching Facebook Gifts. This service is the result of acquiring Karma, which is a company specializing in this matter. Facebook Gifts is expected to launch in the next few weeks for U.S. region only at the starting point. The service will go further outside U.S. if it is successful.
