All modern email services like Gmail, etc. icloud, provide an enormous amount of space to store thousands and thousands of emails. However, even if you use a program to manage your mail, do not always search for a message is a simple task to perform. The present version of Mail in OS X Lion is perhaps more appropriate update in the new operating system and introduces a new advanced search mode really just to solve the above problem. With this guide we want to propose some small suggestion to take advantage of this system of research, like Spotlight, will prove very useful.
Since search engines are the best way to find something is to insert a set of parlor in the search field hoping that there are too many messages that contain. It is however not always sufficient.
The first thing that comes to view with Mail is that you type into the search field, the application will present a list of helpful hints. Of course, all are free to ignore them, but if you read what you’re looking for, you can select it and check the result of research. For example, if you enter a partial name or address of a person’s email, Mail will suggest, within the People section, the full name. Similarly if you enter a date, Mail will create a token that will allow you access to all messages that go back to that date.

Research has not been limited to a single token. If you try to add more, the program will search for you those messages that meet all the tokens in the search field. For example: From: John Subject: Blog, Date: January 2006 Status: marked), and so on. Obviously searches may include inside them even normal text.
In addition to knowing what you should look for, is very useful to know where to look. As soon as you start typing something into the search field, add a small mail to your menu bar which contains links to all the mailboxes you use most frequently. The first option tells all, which means that the search will be performed on all of your e-mail addresses stored in your program, but there are also other useful links.
The suggestions Mail are particularly intelligent and vary based of where you search. For example, if you entered a part of the name of the sender of the message, as an area of research you have selected a box in which there is not even a message from that person, Mail does not propose the name of the person as a possible token. But if you write the name of a person for example, From: Deborah … if that person has more than one e-mail address, the program will perform a search that includes all the addresses in the address book for that person.
These are the basic features that you should know if you often perform searches within Mail and want to save your time to scroll through lists of email before finding (assuming that you are) you want the mail. In addition to these, there are also some slightly more advanced features that can possibly serve on special occasions. Here are some suggestions in this regard:
Beware defaults research. If the search we tell the program to check all your mail accounts registered in subsequent research (no matter how this will happen) Mail resurface default, your previous selections. So remember to change it if necessary.
If you remember a sentence in the message you’re looking for, enter it in quotes in the search field to bring home to mail the message to find it contains exactly those words in that exact order. Use terms righteous for research. So if you write dual Soccer Match OR research deemed “good” any mail containing at least one of the words entered. (NOT can be used in place of the hyphen before the word “soccer-football equivalent to NOT).
Use time intervals: You can search for messages that were sent or received between two dates. To indicate interval research simply separate two dates a dash eg 25/12/2010-10/01/2011.
If you run the same searches frequently, use the Smart Mailbox. To create one, simply click on the Save button that appears below the search field. You can customize the filters so that the folder in question should be (virtually) all the messages of interest to you that meet the filters set.
