Jailbreaking is a very big business. Just hours after the release of iOS 5.0.1, jailbreaking is possible now. However this jailbreak is still tethered by using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8. The process is not hard but tethered jailbreak is still hard to use and if you want to untethered jailbreak, you should stay away from iOS 5.0.1 for awhile.
How to Restart in Tethered Mode
You have to connect your phone to PC or Mac > re-run Redsn0w and open the Extras menu > Select “Just boot” > reset the iPhone into DFU mode and phone will restart. Note: Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 not work with iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

Here is how to Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1
Step 1: Make sure you have installed iOS 5.0.1 on your device and you have downloaded the new version of redsn0w.
Step 2: Run Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 and select the firmware 5.0 file from the Extras menu> Select IPSW. This will select 5.0.1 firmware instead of iOS 5.0 because redsn0w has not yet been updated to support the new 5.0.1 IPSW of iOS.
Step 3: Return to the main screen of redsn0w, click on “Jailbreak” and then “Install Cydia”.
Step 4: You will be asked to set the device in DFU mode. To do so, press and hold the “Power” button for about 5 seconds, then press and hold the “Power” and “Home” button for 10 seconds and then release “Power” and continue to hold the “Home” button for 15 seconds.
Step 5: Now Jailbreak is in process and it will be done in several minutes more.
