With firmware 4.2, users can use the Find My iPhone service for free, until now only found in Mobile Me (cost € 79 a year). This guide will explain how to set it on the iPhone with iPhone OS 4.2
Here are the steps to follow:
- Update the device firmware 4.2
- Go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts and Calendar
- Click Add Account
- Click on MobileMe
- Enter your Apple ID (the one used on the iTunes Store)
- Check the email account (an email will automatically)
- Go back to Settings -> Mail, Contacts and Calendar
- Activate the Find function and confirm my iPhone
- Now download the free Find My iPhone app to try the service
Recall that this function is only available free on the iPhone 4, iPad, iPod Touch and 4G, as shown in the following screen (iPod Touch 2G):
