iMovie iPad Is Faster Than the Mac Version

The first tests of the iPad 2 showed that the new Apple tablet is much more efficient than the original iPad with a Dual Core processor and a graphics chip with two cores also. The site AppAdvice wanted to know a little more by comparing the performance of iMovie iOS iPad, iPod touch and 4G iPad 2 with those of iMovie ’11 on a variety of Macs, the MacBook Air 11 “Mac Pro through the iMac and the MacBook Pro.

iMovie iPad Is Faster Than the Mac Version

Importing a video file of 2 minutes in the iMovie application was made through iTunes within 26 seconds while it takes over a minute on all Macs except the Mac Pro down to 56 seconds.

The encoding of the video file of 2 minutes in 720p HD using iMovie is also in favor of the iPad 2 with work completed in less than 2 minutes as the iPod touch 4 while all Macs are above the 2 minutes.

Finally, during the encoding of a more complex project with music, titles and a picture of introduction and iPad 2 end loop operation in 2 minutes and 5 seconds. Here, only the 17 “MacBook Pro and Mac Pro are better with respectively 1 minute 48 seconds and 2 minutes.

Apple developers have therefore done a lot of optimization for machinery iOS coming to leverage the power of ARM processors. Obviously iOS iMovie does not yet offer all the features of the Mac version, but with time, the gap between the two should be reduced.
