As expected, Apple has deployed a security update to Mac OS X Snow Leopard to prevent the proliferation of malware Mac Defender, this false scenario that simulates a virus alert to encourage the user to voluntarily enter their bank details hoping protect themselves against false attacks. Apple has not explicitly cited Mac Defender at the launch of this fix. But the system files are some direct reference to the threat.

This update reviews the XProtect.plist file that contains a list of virus signatures that the operating system is able to recognize. When you install this update, a window also informs the user that a search of malware is running on his machine and displays a message if Mac Defender has indeed been found and removed from the machine .
Another new panel option “Security” tab displays the “General” a new online invitation to “Update automatically downloads a list of safe.” A daily check run background checks and a list of names given to variants of malware in circulation. It is of course update dynamically XProtect file mentioned above.
This feature will allow Apple to add virus definitions on the fly, without necessarily having to update the system when a new malware appeared. Another advantage, the procedure is simpler, faster to implement and therefore more effective. This new option is enabled by default on all Macs updated.
