Predicting: Android To Lead Mobile Phone Market Share in 2011

The analyst firm IDC has released its predictions regarding the smartphone market in 2011. These are more than 450 million units expected to be passed this year, an increase of 49.2% over 2010! IDC expects that Google retains the lead, with 39.5% taking Android Market. Symbian would take second place with 20.9% followed by iOS Apple in third place with 15.7%. RIM is not very far, with 14.9% market share for the BlackBerry. Phone Windows 7 would not exceed 5.5% while other actors whose Bada webOS Samsung and HP, former Palm, occupy the remaining 3.5%.

IDC also advances a little further, with a forecast for 2015. Highlights would be the downfall of Symbian, the stabilization of market shares of Apple and Google, and the rise of Microsoft and other players.The agreement Nokia and Microsoft is obviously central to these statistics, and IDC presumes success of this operation, which is not yet acquired.
