Quanta, a Taiwan-based notebook maker, has recently received OEM orders from Amazon for a new tablet PC. It is expected that Quanta will start shipping new Amazon tablet by the second half of 2011. What’s most important, the device’s monthly orders is expected to reach about 700,000 to 800,000 units per month during the peak season. That means it will increase Quanta’s annual revenues in 2011 by US$3.5 billion.
According to DigiTimes, “the device is expeted to receive support from Taiwan-based electrophoretic display (EPD) maker E Ink Holdings (EIH) for supplying touch panel as well as providing its Fringe Field Switching (FFS) technology. However, EIH declined to comment on the news when asked, saying it does not discuss clients with the media.”
