Recently HTC has released the Q3 revenues report of $2.397 billion. It is not surprise to see this drop since HTC has been struggling with Apple and Samsung. The profit keeps dropping compared to the $3 billion in Q2 of 2012 and even more serious when comparing with the $4.45 billion in October 2011.
HTC expected further drop but has better growth in China market in the near future. HTC didn’t done well with Android and now the company is working closely with Microsoft to bring Windows Phone 8 smartphone to the market including HTC 8X and 8S.

The wave of Windows Phone 8 is flashing quite strong now. With good sign, FCC might approve the Verizon Windows Phone 8X sooner or later. This is a good hope for both the manufacture HTC and Verizon. We will be able to see another Windows Phone 8 in shelve in the near future. It is a good turn for Windows Phone to compete with iOS and Android.
The HTC Windows Phone 8X will come with GSM frequencies of 850 and 1900 making it go global easier.

HTC accused Apple of violating two of their patents related to wireless network but Apple is trying to say that the patents owned by HTC does not have proper ownership of the patents. Talking more about the patents, HTC has bought them from ADC Telecommunications Inc in April 2011 for $75 million.
This is just the beginning stage and we should hear more from the court. However now seem like Apple might face difficulty to prove that the two patents are invalid.

It has been quite soon after the release of Android 4.0.4 update for the top smartphone One X, HTC doesn’t want to let down their mid-range smartphone users, One S. Within the next few hours, HTC will push the update to your phone directly which is in OTA method so you don’t need to connect or use PC to update.
The total update size is about 157MB including the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense v4.1. If you can’t find the update now in your regime, you better wait a few more days.

With the announcement of financial result compared to what the company has done in 2011, HTC CEO, Peter Chou, confirmed the company has been through difficult time in U.S. and willing to implement a new strategy plan for Q2 of 2012 but this time, the company won’t put its main concentration in U.S. market but also Europe and Asia.
Peter Chou confirmed that HTC has encountered difficulty in U.S. market that it won’t be easy to gain market share there but HTC will strengthen its popularity in Europe and Asia in addition to what it has done in U.S.
Moreover, HTC will develop high-end technology smartphones which are similar the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 and Apple iPhone. For budgeted market share, HTC will also develop low-end smartphone.

HTC has been so popular thanks to the hardware quality of its device. Basically on HTC One S, the company has implemented Micro Arc Oxidation (MAO) to strengthen the aluminum to make is hard to break. As founded there is the problem to rare HTC One S and some people have already reported this issue to the company.
Now HTC is aware of the problem and called for free swap to get the problem fixed.
Here is HTC’s statement:
HTC is committed to delivering a high quality product and great experience for all our customers. There have been a few, isolated reports of this issue. The finish on the One S was laboratory tested as being at a hardness similar to ceramic. While that’s hard, it doesn’t mean it’s impossible to damage. Regardless, HTC takes quality very seriously and are providing all customers with an immediate fix and we are implementing some small changes to ensure customers do not experience this issue in the future.

It can be big time story for all of the giant smartphone manufactures with the same lawsuit. In this case, Apple, Samsung, RIM, HTC, Sony and LG were sued by Graphics Properties Holdings over the same case about graphic rendering.
Now it is still unclear about the characteristic of patent that all of the smartphones phone listed above violate GPH but we will see the case in court.
