In 2011, Sony Ericsson has decided to offer its customers the ability to unlock the bootloader. This ability only works with entire 2011 range but the 2010 models do not support. Depending on the brand, it would require discussions with operators for a model released one year ago. Rumours suggesting that the Xperia X10 could also benefit from this feature in the upgrade to Gingerbread but unfortunately the manufacturer has denied.
