IDC: Android Is The Top Used OS with 75% of Marketshare

Recently IDC has released the result of the research of mobile phone operating system in the marketplace. According to the result, about 136 million Android devices were shipped during the Q 3 2012 making it to be the best quarter. Apple shipped about 26.9 million iOS devices in the same quarter ranking in the second place after Android.

The 3rd and 4th places are for BlackBerry and Symbian respectively leaving the 5 place for Windows Phone.

In short, Android covers 75% of marketshare meanwhile iOS has 14.9%. BlackBerry Symbian and Windows Phone have 4.3%, 2.3% and 2% respectively.

Official Price of Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X on Best Buy

Recently Best Buy allows pre-order for Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X for $149.99 and $99.99 respectively. Both come with two-year contract with free shipping offer and AT&T will be the carrier. Basically for Lumia 920, you can choose different colors of red, blue, yellow, black and white.

These two are the first Windows Phone 8 to hit the market before the end of 2012 but Best Buy didn’t state the exact shipping date. Hopefully it doesn’t be too long to wait.

Nokia Q3 Report: 2.9 Million Lumia Sales and 3.4 Million Symbian Sales

Recently Nokia has released official Q3 of 2012 report with quite disappointment. The company sold around 2.9 million Lumia smartphone meanwhile 3.4 million Symbian worldwide. Compared to Q2, Nokia sold 4 million Lumias and 6.2 million Symbians.

It is another significant drop from quarter to quarter. However the number of Lumia is expected to growth thank to the release of key smartphone the Lumia 920 and 820 in Q4 of 2012.

Learning from the report Nokia lost around $754 million marking the sale drop of 63% each year or 38% per quarter.

It should be the most difficult time for Nokia since the company doesn’t use Android and even implementing the Windows Phone, Nokia still can’t gain back its market share lost to Apple and Samsung. Of course new strategies must be considered and bring it to the round table to encounter this difficulty period.

Penetrate the Windows Phone 8 to the market is about to begin and of course Nokia is one of the most anticipate manufactures to launch its smartphone with this OS. The partnership between Nokia and Microsoft seems to recover only minor market. We do expect many Windows Phone 8 from Nokia and now according to WMPoweruser, we have leaked information of Nokia Lumia 822.

Nothing much leaked but Lumia 822 will run on Windows Phone 8 of course with WVGA display and an 8 megapixel camera. Currently there is no information about the availability or price tag. No official announcement from Nokia nor Verizon at the moment.

HTC Releases Q3 Revenues Report of $2.397 Billion

Recently HTC has released the Q3 revenues report of $2.397 billion. It is not surprise to see this drop since HTC has been struggling with Apple and Samsung. The profit keeps dropping compared to the $3 billion in Q2 of 2012 and even more serious when comparing with the $4.45 billion in October 2011.

HTC expected further drop but has better growth in China market in the near future. HTC didn’t done well with Android and now the company is working closely with Microsoft to bring Windows Phone 8 smartphone to the market including HTC 8X and 8S.

The wave of Windows Phone 8 is flashing quite strong now. With good sign, FCC might approve the Verizon Windows Phone 8X sooner or later. This is a good hope for both the manufacture HTC and Verizon. We will be able to see another Windows Phone 8 in shelve in the near future. It is a good turn for Windows Phone to compete with iOS and Android.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X will come with GSM frequencies of 850 and 1900 making it go global easier.

During the event in Berlin, Samsung has unveiled ATIV S. Coming with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with HD resolutions, Samsung ATIV S is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It also has a16GB or 32GB internal storage, a 8 megapixel camera, a 1.9 megapixel camera, microSD card slot, HSPA support, NFC and 2,300 mAh battery.

Microsoft and Nokia started sending invitation for an event on September 5 in New York. The event is expected to be the release of Nokia Windows Phone 8. Event there is not official words from both companies but it is quite certain to judge that Windows Phone 8 Lumia will start its journey.

This is another chance for Nokia to gain back the market share meanwhile they didn’t do well with Windows phone 7.5 comparing to other Android or iOS smartphone.

Official: Nokia Lumia Won’t Be Able to Update to Windows Phone 8

The news that many had feared, unfortunately, was confirmed following the official launch of Windows Phone 8. The new release of the Microsoft operating system can not be used by the terminals Windows Phone up to now marketed and, consequently, also the terminals Nokia Lumia can not be updated. The news was somewhat anticipated by the various rumors that have followed over the past few weeks and recently confirmed by the statements of unofficial T-Mobile . The lack of support for Windows Phone 8 by the Lumia model, including the recent Lumia 900, the current flagship of the Finnish manufacturer. Lumia smartphones will only receive the version 7.8 of Windows Phone that will introduce changes to the user interface. This is a story that, in no uncertain terms, you can define very negative for the Finnish company and that may have a serious impact on sales of the Lumia device.
