The iWorld is a very big one. You may have heard of the somewhat popular iPhone, iPod and iPad. To say Apple has conquered the field of technology is an understatement, but that’s not to say we all know how to operate an Apple product. Their simplicity and easy access can actually cause quite the opposite affect to anybody who’s used to other brands. How do you operate something that only has one frontal button? Why does one button have so many functions and how are you to know what function is executed when?
Worry not. Apple’s simple fascia and operating system really can be as easy to use as intended. Here are some of the awesome things you can do on your new iPod touch.
The iSight camera. A 5-megapixel camera that is seven times more powerful than the previous generation. With tap-to-focus feature, LED flash and face detection, you’ll no longer need a separate digital camera. Despite only being a small device, there is so much the iPod touch can do, and taking brilliant photos is just one. It can also shoot 1080p HD video off the reverse camera, and the front camera is more powerful than ever before so talking to friends and family on FaceTime is even clearer. The best camera feature though is the panorama mode. Just tap the button and move the camera over the scene and it will shoot it all. Perhaps that beautiful beach sunset that you could previously only take pictures of in segments?
New EarPods. How often in the past have you been travelling and your headphones haven’t fit in your ears comfortably? And how often with previous headphones has the audio playback been quiet and grainy? Worry no longer because the new iPod touch includes a new kind of headphone that will make all others seem like they’re from years gone by. Apple made their way through 124 prototypes, tested on 600 people, before settling on one. Combining crystal clear sound with a design that fits snugly in your lugholes, they’re ideal.
Siri. The only personal assistant you’ll ever need. Ask it what the weather is and it’ll tell you for wherever you are. Ask it what movies are on in cinemas near you and it’ll tell you what’s showing. Ask it… you get the picture. It’s an intelligent app that will come in very handy when you need information quickly. There’s also a huge range of strange but funny questions which Siri will give you strange but funny answers to. Previously only on the iPhone, the iPod touch is now on the same level.
Dual-core A5 chip. The new iPod touch is the fastest yet, without sacrificing battery power. It provides you with twice the processing power and seven times faster graphics than the previous generation. And you can still get an incredible 40 hours of music or 8 hours of video on one single charge. Playing games, watching movies and listening to music on the go has never been so reliably long lasting and efficient.
Better Facebook and Twitter integration. You’ll be in the know about everything that’s going on in the world and with your friends the minute it happens. There’s smoother and simpler synchronisation to all your social networking accounts, including Facebook and Twitter, as well as FaceTime, iMessage, and many more. You can post photos online instantly from any wi-fi connection via the Photos app, and you can even tweet images and videos from within an app directly. Keeping social when you’re on your own sounds like an odd idea, but it’s entirely possible – and quicker and more convenient than ever before.
Airplay. The possibilities with Airplay are limitless. You can stream whatever’s on your iPod touch to your HDTV via Apple TV. You can get your mates over and show them all your gorgeous holiday snaps on a large screen, or show them a video of you parachuting out of a plane in glorious high-def without the need to transfer files to your computer first. Airplay cuts out the middle man. Show everyone a new blog or website that they may like, or show them all how to fire the perfect shot in Angry Birds. A 4in iPod touch screen is great when you’re on your own, but when you’re in company you really should think bigger so everyone can get involved.
